Clothing Manufacturers Offset Emissions - Part Three

Green fashion series: goodbye NAU - out of business sale

Here's Part Three of our three-part series focusing on clothing manufacturers who are trying to push the envelope and offset their environmental impact:

We are sad to announce that NAU outdoor clothing manufacturer is going out of business. Their approach to design and materials focused on low impact, high durability, and maximum efficiency. They were a leader in sustainable design and just last year they announced even more initiatives that we wanted to highlight today, but the news came to us just this week.

Just last summer, NAU announced its partnership with The Climate Trust and Bonneville Environmental Foundation to offset its carbon emissions. Through purchasing Renewable Energy Certificates from both organizations, Carbon Neutral Clothing would be offsetting the carbon emitted by shipping products from factories to distribution centers, and then to its customers' houses. NAU employees' corporate air travel was also being offset.

Craig Diamond, Director of Strategy and Operations for The Climate Trust was quoted as saying, "We are very pleased that such an innovative and pioneering company has chosen to purchase carbon offsets produced from our projects, and we applaud NAU for taking several other steps to minimize its carbon footprint, including purchasing Green Tags."

It is sad to see such an innovative and pioneering company sucumb to the economy. Visit their website one last time for going-out-of -usiness deals on all their products. The sizes are fading fast, but take a look just in case.
